This is a music video edit I put together of various visual effects sequences from Star Trek: Deep Space 9 (my favorite Trek series).
This was a video edit that I’m kinda fond of, particularly since it was one where I was kinda screwing around in the earlier days of digital NLE editing without much of a plan as to what I wanted the final thing to end up like.
Deep Space Nine was the Trek series that most uniquely bridged the gap between model VFX and CGI VFX. Running from 1993 to 1999, the series was produced during the key years that VFX was starting to slowly switch over to primarily CGI methods. The series was an ambitious one, and the VFX team headed by the late, great Gary Hutzel continued to push the edge of what they could do with a TV budget.
Music in the video is “Pompeii” by E.S. Posthumus from their album, Unearthed.
