This is my personal ranking and brief thoughts on the films directed by Wes Anderson, one of my favorite currently active directors.
This is my list of personal favorites by category. It’s basically my own personal Oscars. I don’t limit each category to an exact number. I also include some special and specific awards at the end that stand out from one or more movies in the year. My full ranked list of 2018 films can be found here. Links on each film go to their Wikipedia page.

Best Editing
Best Screenplay
Best Use Of Silence
- A Quiet Place for, well, all of its silence.
Worst Cinematography
- First Man and its non-stop, annoying, distracting shaky-cam
Best Stunts
- No doubt goes to Mission: Impossible – Fallout and the lunatic known as Tom Cruise
Best Long-awaited Sequel
Most Fun Movie Surprise
- Game Night, which ended up being much more fun and stylistically original than expected.
Best Opening Titles
- The James Bond style titles set to Celine Dion from Deadpool 2
The “I Can’t Believe It Didn’t Suck” Award
- Bumblebee – So who knew? It’s possible to make a modern Transformers movie that doesn’t suck.
The “What The Heck Happened?” Award
- The Cloverfield Paradox, COMPLETELY dropping the ball for a previously excellent franchise (of sorts). Ugh.
