Magnificent Desolation 3D (IMAX)
Yet another great Tom Hanks NASA product. The only real flaw in this film is the short length, which keeps things a bit too fluffy and less about the details. Still, there are no complaints I can make about what is on screen. The 3D is used to cool effect. Some of the coolest stuff is watching them play with the 2D archival materials in 3D, including some really cool mosaic techniques. If you’ve seen From The Earth To The Moon or Apollo 13, you know the level of quality you’ll find in this production. It’s certainly on par with them. It’s also a wonderful educational film. I can think of no better way to educate kids on the subject in a cool and fun way than with this film. So, everyone, if you have an IMAX theater in the area running this film, take the whole family for a fun experience.
