Assault On Precinct 13 (9/10)

This is a dark, gritty and gutsy remake of John Carpenters classic stand-off movie. I like Carpenter’s original film, but not quite as much as some people I know do. I happen to like this remake better than the original. It has an excellent cast, is well produced, and the script is tweaked and changed enough to give it an original take on the basic premise of the original. Ethan Hawke, who can always be counted on for a solid perfomance, gives us another example of why. The rest of the cast is equally solid, and they do a good job fleshing out their various roles.
