Again, sorry for the delay in posts. I am happy to say that my picks for 2008 movies in all the usual categories will be ready for posting by Friday.
RIP: Kim Manners, a very talented TV director/producer
EEEEEEEEK! I'm positively giddy at the prospect of Rob Thomas being in-the-works with a Veronica Mars movie. I'm a HUGE fan of Veronica Mars. My ticket is guaranteed. Heck, I'll see it at least a dozen times theatrically...

The first review of Windows
I'd like to congratulate Paramount for finishing the run of Wings on DVD. Few things frustrate me as much as studios who stop the releases of shows part way through (I'm never going to forgive WB for releasing 3 out of 4 volumes for Animaniacs then stopping).
I'd also like to congratulate Universal for releasing a proper season 1 DVD set for House, correcting their poor, non-anamorphic original set. If only CBS would re-do season 1 of CSI (which I think they were rumored to do years ago, but it never seemed to materialize). Heck, CBS needs to just start releasing CSI on Blu-Ray.
And while I'm congratulating studios/networks, I'd like to congratulate the TNT series Leverage for a great recovery with this week's episode, after the stunningly awful episode last week. Seriously, one of the worst episodes of a scripted show I've seen in a long time. And the visual effects could have embarrassed a low-budget syndicated show from the 80's. It's particularly tough to watch something that stupendously bad when it's from such an otherwise great show.
Oh, and it's totally old news at this point, but since I've lagged behind in my posts here I figured it worth mentioning - RIP: Circuit City

Ponderings For 2008-12-29

I'm trying to catch up on movies I haven't seen. I've added 5 recently seen films to my 2008 Films list. I added the brief reviews to them as well. The newly added ones are The Day The Earth Stood Still (7), The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas (8), Yes Man (8), Valkyrie (9), Seven Pounds (9) and the lemon and new bottom entry on my list, The Spirit (2).
Starz network is developing a brand new Rob Thomas created show called Party Down, starring Veronica Mars' Ryan Hanson & Ken Marino (among others, including Jane Lynch & Lizzy Caplan). With Rob Thomas as show-runner and Marino & Hanson starring, I'll watch it no matter what it's about. Sounds like it has a fun premise anyway, so all the better.
Congrats to USA Network for setting plenty of records for 2008. They are my favorite cable network. I'm a HUGE fan of Psych and Monk, and have become a big fan of new series In Plain Sight.
And since I'm on the TV series topic, here's an exmple of just how bad reality TV has gotten - "Celebrity Rehab Presents Sober House." Seriously, they couldn't pay me to watch this crap. I'm ashamed to be a humanoid. Shame on you, VH1.
I was one of the many who suffered the AT&T Wireless outtage most of the day Sunday.
The RIAA has been denied appeal on the reversal of their only court win, hurray! Granted, they've stopped their carpet bombing personal law suits now (probably due to not being able to actually win any).
Darth Mojo has posted some very cool "radiosity renders" of the Battlestar CGI models.
Not sure if I'll get another post in before the new year. If not, everybody enjoy your New Year's celebration. In the mean time, I'm gonna have to get myself some Weasel Puke Coffee...

Woo hoo! "Doctor Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog" will actually exist. For those not in the know, this is a made-for-the-internet series of 3 ten minute musicals made by Joss Whedon, starring none-other-than Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day. Can't wait.
