Ponderings For 2007-01-09
posted in Ponderings |- My 2007 movie retrospective list should be posted within the next couple days.
- OK, so Gemma Arterton isn’t playing the Bond girl in the upcoming Bond 22 film (as everyone, including me, had mentioned previously). Arterton will be in the movie, just not as the main “Bond girl,” as it were. That role is going to Olga Kurylenko, which is fine as she was good in Hitman.
- Good grief. They’re making a movie for Neuromancer? I’ll be avoiding that one for sure. William Gibson is the most overrated writer of all time. I’ve never read anything by him that didn’t outright suck. And everything that’s been based on his stuff has sucked. He even wrote a couple truly crappy X-Files episodes.
- So, CompUSA has been very marginally saved from the scrap heap.
- For anyone that has the slightest doubts of how purely evil DRM technology is, and what I’ve been warning of for years. I don’t buy any online media with any kind of DRM involved whatsoever. None. And I never will.
- Pure, unrestrained geek lust. I want 1. Or 2. Or 27. Man, 100% color gamut…
- The CD of the future
- David Lynch’s accurate assessment of watching movies on small devices. (language warning)
- Some hilarious old advertisements. I’d seen a couple of ‘em before, but they’re all great.
