Ponderings For 2007-04-12
- Woo hoo! Another point against AACS and DRM in general. Keep ‘em coming, hackers at large.
- Funny help menu
- Here we go, a REAL dual format HD-DVD/Blu-Ray player
- Here’s the announcement and cover art for the third and final DVD volume of Pinky & The Brain.
- Neato: a hamster shredder (not as violent as it sounds)
- Google launches efforts on a new open source OCR initiative
- At least in this day and age of the net, unaired episodes are starting to see at least some form of release…
- Too cool: Donkey Kong on multiple stories of windows, made with Post-Its
- Traveling down the good ol’ orange highway. Talk about surreal.
- Good grief. And I thought we came up with some ridiculous law suits in THIS country…
- I wanna see the part of the theme park depicting severed heads on pikes from A Tale Of Two Cities
- Can they actually make a TV version of Flash Gordon work? I’ll be interested to find out. Wonder if they’ll be doing it with a sense of parody like the excellent 1980 film did, or if they’re actually gonna try to play this version as straight ahead serious.
- And if they can pull that off, do you think they can manage to do it for Barbarella as well?
- The posts to this site have slowed recently. One of the key reasons for that is my trying to prep a new version of this site, which might launch this weekend (or more likely some time in the near future after that). It’ll be running on the powerful web CMS system known as Drupal. In related news, Drupal just got 20 projects sponsored in Google’s 2007 Summer Of Code. Very cool news. Thanks, Google, for helping to make a great system even better.
Random Fact Of The Day: John Winthrop introduced the fork to the American dinner table for the first time on 25 June 1630.
Dialog Of The Day: “Why go to all the trouble to dig up three girls only to chop them up and throw them away? It doesn’t make any sense. Especially from a time management standpoint.” (Buffy Summer, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar in Buffy 2.02 - a good line from a not-particularly-great episode)
Video Of The Day: Today is funny cat video day: Montage 1 / Crack Head Cat & A Laser Pointer / Montage 2 / The average day of lazy cats / Montage 3 / Cat On Ice / Montage 4 (I tried to stick with compilations that didn’t overlap much material)
