Ponderings For 2007-02-19
- You know, if there was just one thing I could bring back from film scores of the 1960’s and 1970’s, it would be the harpsichord. I’ve always been fond of the instrument, particularly when used as part of a full orchestra. Nobody uses it any more, sadly.
- He he. Battlestar Galactica: The Musical.
- IMDB has given itself a facelift
- Speaking of IMDB, their poll for today has a top result I definitely agree with (and voted for). Go, Little Miss Sunshine, Go!
- And on that subject, I’ll have my Oscar predictions posted in the next day or two
- SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 has gone final
- Virtual PC 2007 has gone final
- An interesting bit of news about a possible cause/cure for autism
- The MPAA is up to their usual tricks (really, we swear we weren’t pirating!)
- An interesting paper released by the boys at Google about trends in disk failures (PDF alert)
- Now here’s one dizzy neutron star
- A math nerd’s greatest enemy? Their brain.
- For anybody wondering how my corpse will be discovered
Dialog Of The Day: “Now, the traps are set here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. Here, here, here, here, big one here, here, and maybe a few over here.” (RJ, voiced by Bruce Willis in Over The Hedge)
Video Of The Day: That’s the second biggest vending machine I’ve ever seen…
Extra bonus today. I tweaked a promo photo of Scrat (of Ice Age fame - a favorite character of mine) for use on my two main computers, both of which run at 1920×1200 widescreen resolution. It’s upscaled a bit actually, but looks great as a wallpaper:
