Ponderings For 2007-02-10

  • As promised, my 2006 Retrospective page is now active (with a page link up on the top left of the site). It’s only the movie portion for now.
  • As I drive home late at night, I pull up next to a car thumping out the latest 50 Cent track (or whatever - I wouldn’t recognize something by 50 Cent if forced to by gunpoint). It’s at that moment where I mentally stop and take note of the fact that I’m driving along at that moment listening to the TV score for Crosscurrent. What the heck is Crosscurrent, you might be asking? It was a TV pilot for CBS in 1971, which didn’t get picked up to go to series, and was later retitled to “The Cable Car Murders” and aired as one of CBS’s Friday Night Movie entries. It was scored by Jerry Goldsmith (my favorite music artist of all time), and was tacked onto a nifty new CD release of his score to The Last Run. My copy of it arrived in the mail today. It’s a very short, fun, percussive score, and I was enjoying it as I drove along late at night, cranked in my car. As I pulled up next to the other car, I could only think that “I’m a bit different in music taste than the average bear.”
  • This’ll remain a short posting for today. I’ll close it by mentioning that my 2007 movie reviews are to be temporarily delayed (for a good reason, which’ll become apparent eventually, when I’m finally done screwing around with some stuff). For now, I’ve added a 2007 Film Order list, which simply has the 2007 movies I’ve seen listed in order or preference with my score out of 10 for each. I’ll fill in actual reviews later.

Dialog Of The Day: “I am a leaf on the wind… watch how I soar.” (Hoban “Wash” Washburne, played by Alan Tudyk in Serenity)
